If you are thinking of liposuction to remove stubborn fatty deposits, it is crucial to know the best possible option for you. Liposuction has been developed in the 1970s and has currently evolved in terms of patient safety and increase patient satisfaction.
The VASER is the latest among the liposuction technology. VASER liposuction uses ultrasonic sound waves to loosen and emulsify fatty tissues. Areas such as the tummy, love handles, arms and thighs are prone to localised fatty deposits even with the strictest diet and exercise regimen.
Italian twin plastic surgeons, Dr Roberto and Dr Maurizio Viel, discuss some important details on liposuction.
What is VASER Liposuction?
VASER liposuction is a special ultrasonic technology which emulsifies fatty tissues for easy removal through suction cannulae.
What is Traditional liposuction?
Traditional liposuction or the so-called “suction-assisted liposuction” or SAL is done by introducing a suction cannulae under the skin. This cannulae breaks down the fat tissues and suctions them out.
What are the advantages of VASER than traditional?
Bleeding in VASER liposuction is less since the ultrasonic technology specifically targets fat cells and keeping the other tissues like the blood vessels or nerves intact. With less bleeding, there is less bruising and pain.
How is VASER liposuction done?
VASER Liposuction is carried out in our Dubai Healthcare City clinic under sedation. Unlike general anaesthesia, patients undergoing a procedure with sedation can go back to their home the same day to recover. However, you need to arrange for someone to fetch you from the clinic and drive you since you are not allowed to drive for 2 days.
How long is the VASER Liposuction?
It depends on the number of areas, but generally, one hour per area.
How is the recovery with VASER liposuction?
As with all surgery, liposuction carries some risks and complications. The most common is pain, discomfort, bruises and swelling. The first week is the most crucial as the body starts to heal. A compression garment is worn at all times for the first week to minimise swelling and avoid complication.
Some rare complications are fluid collection and infection. Small fluid collection, especially on the abdomen is not a great concern. The body will eventually absorb the fluid and heal. However, for large fluids, aspiration of the fluid may be necessary. Likewise, an infection can be avoided by taking the antibiotics prescribed following the surgery.
Here in Dubai, VASER LIPOSUCTION is available at London Centre for Aesthetic Surgery located in Dubai Healthcare City.
